What does it mean to have integrity? In my house, it means walking the walk, not just talking the talk. It means looking out for the best interest of others before our own. It means speaking truth at all costs. And, if we mess up, it means we ‘fess up. This is the example my husband and I set for our sons. Yes, they had a devoted mother, but oh how powerful it was for them to also have a devoted father! In other translations of this verse, today’s Proverb also says... “The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.” (New International Version) “God-loyal people, living honest lives, make it much easier for their children.” (The Message Version) “Children are fortunate if they have a father who is honest and does what is right.” (Good News Bible) I’ve seen this verse come to pass right before my very eyes. I am a witness! In this day and age, raising six Black males to adulthood without either of them falling prey to the forces set against them is no less than miraculous. But, according to Proverbs, when a father allows himself to be transformed into a man who is faithful to God, then his children shall be blessed...regardless of the traps set by the enemy. For this I am beyond grateful!
