Some nights, I’m just uninspired to write about that day’s trip through the Scriptures. Tonight is one such night. It’s not that King Saul’s obsession with David is uninteresting. Quite the contrary! I find myself on the edge of my seat reading about them.
It’s not that David isn’t fascinating himself. He has the Spirit of God upon him. The ladies love him, and the men fear him. He wins at everything he does. David is untouchable.
Day 85 - 1 Samuel chapters 25-27 and Psalms 85
The passion and intrigue written in the Scriptures is as enlightening as it is entertaining. And yet, I find myself with not the slightest motivation to discuss it tonight. So, what’s a girl to do? Well, a girl’s got to be honest.
I named this blog “listen2leslie” not because I’m the authority on everything, but because it’s finally time for me to share my testimony. It’s the story of my wins and losses, the lessons I’ve learned, and the depth of feelings that fill my soul. At the foundation of it all is my faith walk, as the church folks might say. And, at the very root of that faith is the necessity for honesty in all things.
So, I’m just going to be honest and say, “I’m exhausted!” What no one knows, except my husband, is that I’ve been staying up very late, pushing myself to write each night. Most nights I don’t get to bed until 2-3 a.m.
A few nights ago, I fell asleep on the couch and woke up around 3 a.m. My first thought was, “Oh no! I still have to write!” My husband, who’s so sweet because he refuses to go to bed without me, tried to let me off the hook. He said, “It’s okay. Just write tomorrow.”
But, I couldn’t do it. A commitment is a commitment, and I take them very seriously. So, I took my laptop to bed, and finally finished at around 4 a.m.
Anyway, those late nights are starting to catch up with me. And, I’m experiencing a little burnout, not on the reading which I’m thoroughly enjoying. But, just on the writing each and every night...night after night. I’m not complaining, though. Just sharing this experience, in case there’s someone who can relate to it in some way.
That’s really the purpose of this blog. My intention is to share my personal journey as a believer, so that others can hopefully relate to it and receive encouragement from it. Right now, it’s 2 a.m., so I hope y’all can relate to the fact that I’m sleepy! I’ve honored my commitment to write tonight, and now it’s time for bed. I’m sure hubby will be happy to hear that.
*Join my one-year trip around the world of Scripture. You’re invited to take this journey with me, as I meditate on God’s Word day and night. Each morning, you’ll find a post on my Facebook page encouraging my new #Biblebuddies along the way. And each night, I’ll be writing my impressions right here at listen2leslie.com. I’d love it if you’d share your comments, to spark some fruitful discussion. The only passport you’ll need for this journey is the Read Scripture app which provides us with our daily itinerary. You’ll love this app because it contains videos by The Bible Project that serve as our tour guide. Traveling is so much better when you have someone to share the experience with, so please join me, will you?
