Proverbs 5

“For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.” I know y’all have heard that the devil doesn’t show up in our lives with horns on his head, carrying a pitchfork. Because if he did, we’d recognize him for the monster he is and run far away. Instead, he shows up in the exact form that our egos need. He’s fine as wine, or she’s got body for days. He’s a smooth talker, or she hangs on your every word. Their purpose is to snatch you away from all that you once held dear. And they’re successful because they always say what you want to hear. By the time you wake up and realize that their sweetness has become bitter like poison, you’re already in too deep. You’ve already drank the Kool-Aid, gulped it down, and begged for more. Now you’ve fallen for the okey-doke, and you can’t get up....

You’re stuck in this situation, and you don’t know how to get yourself out of it. If only you could go back and make a different decision. If only you had listened to the loving wisdom of the Father. He warns us in Proverbs 5 to steer clear of manipulative people whose tongues drip honey, yet are sharper than a two-edged sword. These people can come into our lives in the form of lovers, but also as friends. And, they’re not who we think they are! The Lord instructs us to hold onto the love of our youth, the true love He brought into our lives in the first place. Treasure those who have dedicated their lives to loving, honoring, and protecting you unconditionally. And, never forsake them...ever.
